I would love some comments from my readers about this. My daughter developed a classic case of conjunctivitis (pink eye) and we would not be able to see a pediatrician for 2 days. I was hoping to find a natural solution anyway, so I went to the internet and learned that chamomile tea placed topically over the eye may help. Shockingly, it did! I took the chamomile flowers that I had harvested from my property earlier in the year and boiled them in water. After it cooled I dipped a cloth in the liquid and laid it over my daughter's infected eye. I repeatedly dipped the cloth until she fell asleep and then removed it. When she woke the following morning the green pus, crusting and redness were completely gone! I would love any input as to how this works or other stories of success. (Simply click on COMMENTS under this entry) What a wonderful way to treat conjunctivitis. (Keep in mind that if her eye hadn't cleared up I intended to take her to the pediatrician and others should consider this too) Tags: camomile conjunctivitis | natural conjunctivitis cure | cure conjunctivitis naturally | antibiotic free conjunctivitis | chamomile conjunctivitis

Thank you to all who have supported my mission to get the word out about preventing devastating diseases by avoiding toxic chemicals in common products. I am not sure what fueled the recent surge of book sales. Perhaps it was fueled by my recent interview on NPR or by the National Best Book 2008 selection as a finalist in both the Health and Social Change categories? Regardless of the cause, I thank you all for helping me reach #91 in the Healthy Living category on Amazon.com. Thanks everybody!!! The US government, via the Farm Bill, subsidizes agribusiness and processed foods that have contributed to the current obesity epidemic at the expense of small farmers and healthy foods. Then they ensure profits for agribusiness by purchasing any excess to distribute to our nation's children in the school lunch program. Fortunately, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and its subsidiary group, The Cancer Project, have set out to change that. They have petitioned the USDA to eliminate processed meat (a known cause of childhood leukemia) from the school lunch program. This is the first step to reversing our nation's trend of increasing health problems among our nation's youth. (Chronic diseases have QUADRUPLED in American kids!) Not to worry if you love lunch meat and hot dogs, there are healthier alternatives that lack chemical preservatives and carcinogens. Once we stop using our tax dollars to support the production and distribution of unhealthy food, we can certainly begin to purchase the chemical-free varieties for our nation's greatest resource: our children. If you aren't aware of the impact of our nation's FARM BILL on our national health crisis, please learn more. It is crucial that we stop supporting agribusiness million/billionaires who produce garbage at the expense of family farmers who could be producting healthy organic food for ALL TO AFFORD! | Will Saving Lids Really Save Lives? |

Yoplait has admirably stepped up to the plate to raise funds for breast cancer with its campaign to Save Lids to Save Lives. Yet, despite their good intentions, the yogurt they are selling comes from cows that have been injected with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH or rBST). The rBST raises levels of a chemical that is known to increase breast cancer in women under the age of 50 sevenfold! The synthetic hormone, rBST is not required to be listed on labels, so unless you purchase organic dairy products you are at risk.
