A few weeks ago the FDA released a preliminary report stating that bisphenol A (BPA) is safe. Meanwhile, the National Toxicology Program (NTP), the federal agency charged with advising the government of the toxicity of chemicals, said it is not. They claim that fetuses, infants, and children are at risk of brain damage and behavioral problems at current exposure levels. BPA is also known to be a hormone disruptor, which means hormonally-derived cancers, such as breast cancer or prostate cancer, are more likely to develop later in life.
