Are Hydrogenated Fats Stalling Your Weight Loss?
2009.04.16 07:49:18

Food is converted to energy in the mitochondria of each of our cells. This process requires healthy fats. But bad fats, trans fatty acids, gunk up this system, making it IMPOSSIBLE TO LOSE WEIGHT! So look at the label of everything you buy. Trans fats are so bad that labels are now mandated to list them; however, food manufacturers often get around this labeling requirement by playing with the serving size so that it doesn't have to be listed.

Don't fall for this. Look at each ingredient. If it says hydrogenated anything on it, it has trans fatty acids, and you WILL NOT LOST WEIGHT! You may also become fatigued, and develop other health problems. So...ditch the trans fatty acids today. You can do it!

Tip for Grumpy Moms
2009.03.26 21:16:42

If mommy is getting a little irritable with minimal provocation,
magnesium deficiency may be to blame. This mineral is eliminated by
the urine excessively when we are under stress and if it is not
replaced you may become irritable, shaky, anxious or have headaches or
muscle spasms. The easiest way to replace magnesium is to eat pumpking
seeds. Make sure they are organic so that they haven't been irradiated
or fumigated. (Will not tell you on the label!)

If you prefer to take a supplement, take magnesium citrate or
glycinate (not the cheaper oxide, which is what you will find
everywhere). If you take too much magnesium you body will not absorb
it, and you will get loose BMs, that is how you know to start cutting
back.

These tips are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. Be sure to consult your
medical provider before attempting to diagnose or treat any condition
or symptom.

Terri's Tip
2009.03.17 15:07:10

For the past couple months I have been offering tips and suggestions on another mom's blog in hopes to encourage her & her readers in their desire to bring about healthy changes for their families.

Today's Tip is:  Fish oil is important for optimal brain development in kids and is highly recommended. Make sure it is molecularly distilled to remove toxins. BTW, the most toxic food, in the opinion of an expert speaker at the Integrative Healthcare Symposium, is farmed salmon. This is because it contains very high levels of PCBs and very low levels of healthy omega 3 fatty acids. So, take your fish oil with your kids!

To track back on the past tips go to www.reginaskammer.blogspot.com and look at the past Tuesday's entries.

Help A Single Mom - This simple act of kindness will help her raise healthier kids
2009.01.19 08:33:31

The quality of water in our nation is worrisome and has been linked to many devastating illnesses. The American Dental Association, upon recognizing the negative effects of fluoride in children, has released a statement that children should have formula mixed only with un-fluoridated water. Because most municipal water has fluoride added to it, all families with babies must have a method to remove fluoride from their water. Unfortunately, carbon filters do not remove fluoride, but more costly reverse osmosis water systems do.It is a social injustice that only the wealthy can afford safe water for themselves and their children.

A wonderful way to help others is to purchase a water purification system for a single mom in your neighborhood. If you are considering the purchase of a reverse osmosis system for a family in need of safe drinking water, try purchasing one at a home improvement store (they cost about $170) and installing it for them. This requires the drilling of a hole through the counter top for the new drinking water spicket. A few hours of manual labor and less than $200 later, you will have given this family the opportunity for a healthier life.
